This role requires the “wit” to manage independent shifts across multiple home environments and the “grit” to provide consistent personal care, meal preparation, and emotional support. Job Details
Employer: Casa Dolce Casa.
Service Area: Hamilton and Niagara Region, Ontario.
Status: Full-time (Traveling required).
Salary: $18.00 per hour.
Requirements: Police background check; legally entitled to work in Canada.
Assets: Driver’s license and car; PSW Certificate; CPR/First Aid.
Key Responsibilities: The “Mobile Care” Cycle
You act as a critical link in the home care chain, providing essential services that prevent social isolation and physical decline.
Personal Care & Hygiene: Assist with bathing, grooming, and dressing, ensuring the client’s physical comfort and self-esteem are maintained.
Mobility & Transfers: Provide hands-on assistance with moving and transferring, utilizing safe techniques to prevent falls and injuries.
Nutritional Support: Prepare healthy meals and assist with feeding when required, ensuring the client’s dietary needs are met.
Domestic Maintenance: Perform light housekeeping to ensure the home remains a safe and sanitary environment for the client.
Clinical Observation: Monitor and report any changes in the client’s health or well-being to ensure timely medical or family intervention.
Emotional Companionship: Build a trusting relationship with the client, providing the conversation and support needed for mental health.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
The “Reliable Traveler”: Someone who is comfortable with a “Home Care” model that requires commuting between different client locations in the Niagara/Hamilton area.
Compassionate Wit: Excellent communication skills in English to accurately document health changes and engage with diverse client personalities.
Dependable Grit: A patient and professional demeanor, with the ability to follow safety protocols and care plans without direct on-site supervision.

Technical Insights: Home Care Safety & Ergonomics
Working in private homes requires a high level of “Situational Awareness” and specialized physical techniques.
Safe Patient Handling: You must be proficient in “Pivot Transfers” and the use of gait belts. In a home setting, you often work in tighter spaces than a hospital, requiring precise body mechanics to protect your back.
Environmental Risk Assessment: On every visit, you perform a “Slips, Trips, and Falls” audit—checking for loose rugs, poor lighting, or cluttered pathways that pose a danger to seniors.
Infection Control: In a mobile role, “Hand Hygiene” and the proper use of gloves are your primary tools to prevent cross-contamination between different households.
Reporting Protocols: Understanding “Baseline Health.” You must know a client’s “normal” (e.g., skin color, clarity of speech, appetite) to recognize and report early signs of issues like UTIs or dehydration.
