Status: Part-time (Mondays and Fridays, 10 AM – 2 PM).
Salary: $17.20 – $20.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities: The “Active Living” Cycle
You are the primary facilitator of the client’s physical mobility and social calendar.
Community Engagement: Accompany the client to social outings (coffee shops, libraries) and specialized programs at Baycrest or Wellspring, fostering emotional well-being.
Mobility & Exercise: Supervise light exercises, such as walking with a walker around the block or within the apartment building, to maintain physical strength.
Home Management: Beyond light cleaning, you will organize closets, cupboards, and important documents/papers to create a functional living space.
Personal Care Supervision: Oversee showering for safety, assist with dressing/grooming, and coordinate hygiene appointments like haircuts.
Logistical Support: Manage a variety of errands, including grocery shopping, pharmacy trips, and non-medical appointments (e.g., massage, therapy, or bloodwork).
Collaborative Cooking: Assist with meal preparation or engage in “cooking together” to promote the client’s autonomy and nutritional health.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
The “Social Specialist”: A friendly, outgoing individual who genuinely enjoys conversation and engaging in activities like board games.
Organizational Wit: The ability to help the client with “Weekly Planning,” mapping out tasks and outings for the days ahead.
Certified Grit: Holds a PSW Certificate or equivalent (Nursing student 1+ year or foreign-trained nurse), with current CPR/First Aid.
Reliable Professional: Must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening, a negative TB test, and a mobile phone for coordination.
Technical Insights: Rehabilitative & Social Support
Supporting a client who utilizes community resources like Baycrest requires an understanding of “Geriatric Wellness” models.
Social Prescribing: You are essentially delivering “Social Prescribing,” where community activities are used as a clinical tool to reduce the depression and cognitive decline often associated with isolation in seniors.
Walker Safety & Fall Prevention: You will provide “Stand-By Assistance” (SBA), staying within arm’s reach during walks to ensure the client uses his walker correctly on uneven city sidewalks.
Cognitive Stimulation: Engaging in board games and weekly planning acts as “Cognitive Training,” helping to maintain the client’s executive functioning and memory.
ADL Supervision: Your role in the shower is “Supervisory Safety”—being present to intervene only if a slip or confusion occurs, which preserves the client’s sense of independence.
