Job Overview: Construction Laborer (Hourly)
Holder Construction is seeking a high-energy, dependable Laborer for a major project in Indianapolis, IN. This is a performance-based role designed for individuals who demonstrate ownership of their tasks and are looking to move up quickly through a structured career development program.
As a Laborer, you are the backbone of the jobsite. You will provide primary support to field supervision and skilled trades, ensuring the site remains safe, organized, and productive. This role requires significant physical stamina and a “safety-first” mindset.
Key Responsibilities & Jobsite Operations
Material & Site Logistics
Loading/Unloading: Manage the intake of deliveries and safely distribute materials across the jobsite.
Workspace Prep: Clean and prepare work areas to ensure carpenters and other trades can operate efficiently.
Material Handling: Move objects of all shapes and sizes, ensuring inventory is where it needs to be when it’s needed.
Field Support & Safety
Trade Assistance: Work directly with carpenters and safety professionals to complete specific project phases.
Site Maintenance: Perform essential manual tasks including digging, cleaning, and general site organization.
Problem Solving: Use critical thinking to solve immediate field issues and maintain workflow under tight deadlines.
Requirements & Physical Demands
Qualifications
Experience: 1 year of construction experience is preferred.
Knowledge: A solid understanding of general constructability and OSHA-compliant safety environments.
Skills: Ability to read/write and follow complex verbal instructions; strong situational awareness (sight and hearing).
Legal: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (Holder does not sponsor immigration status).
Compliance: Must pass a background screen and substance abuse testing.
Physical Rigor
Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry 50–100 lbs. approximately 75% of the time.
Agility: Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds; comfortable working on uneven surfaces and at various heights.
Stamina: Ability to stand or walk for long periods in an outdoor, all-weather environment.
