Strategic 2026 Context: Your 156th Market Entry

This role represents the “Secured Estate Facilities” tier of your 156-role York dataset.

  • The York “Secure” Wage: At £12.21/hr, this role aligns with the York Pullman Bus Driver (£14.50/hr) and Carefound Assistant (£14.50/hr) only when you factor in the “hidden benefits.” The inclusion of an on-site gym and subsidised meals significantly lowers the “cost of living” for staff compared to city-center roles.

  • The Full Sutton Corridor: HMP Millsike was built adjacent to the existing HMP Full Sutton. This creates a massive employment hub in the YO41 area, making it a primary destination for workers in Pocklington, Stamford Bridge, and East York.

  • The Green Prison Trend: As the UK’s first all-electric prison, Millsike is a flagship 2026 project. This role isn’t just “cleaning”; it’s part of a high-tech facility transformation that uses 75% less energy than older prisons like HMP Wormwood Scrubs.

Mitie is the UK’s leading strategic outsourcing and facilities management company. In York, Mitie serves as a critical operational partner for some of the city’s largest public and private sector infrastructure, including the Ministry of Justice (HMP Millsike) and Network Rail.
