Role Objective
The extensive ground handling division of dnata Airport Operations provides vital services to the global aviation hub at Dubai International Airport. We ensure a smooth journey from initial check-in to final baggage collection for over 80 million travelers and 140 airlines every year.
As a Flight Watch Coordinator, your mission is to plan, oversee, and synchronize all ground handling tasks. This involves proactive engagement in managing baggage operations for OAL and Flydubai on your assigned flights. You will serve as the primary liaison for airlines and ground teams, providing critical flight data to ensure safe, punctual departures that align with dnata’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The goal of this position is to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact front-line delivery, ensuring a seamless end-to-end aircraft turnaround.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, your duties are categorized into three core areas:
Planning
Monitor flight schedules and assess aircraft readiness to guarantee on-time arrivals and departures across all airport locations.
Evaluate specific operational needs for passengers, cargo, and baggage prior to the aircraft’s arrival or departure.
Leadership
Brief core dAO supervisors on specific flight requirements to ensure all necessary resources and tasks are covered.
Synchronize all “above-wing” and “below-wing” activities to facilitate a secure and efficient turnaround process.
Execution
Document any additional ground services provided beyond the standard SLA to ensure precise billing and prevent revenue loss.
Adhere strictly to safety, quality, and environmental protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
Supervise and enforce airline-specific requirements as per the SLA/ASR, engaging effectively with the operational team throughout the day.
Assist in identifying ways to improve systems, workflows, and operational practices.
Gather flight briefings from airline representatives to ensure appropriate resource distribution.
Act as the central decision-maker for specific flights on the day of operation, providing necessary guidance to teams.
Utilize the AACS system to track flight timing, keeping the operational staff informed of any changes or logistical hurdles.
Proactively escalate and resolve operational irregularities in coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
Analyze significant flight delays or SLA breaches to implement corrective measures and generate formal reports.
Foster strong relationships with internal and external entities, including Airport Police, Immigration, Group Safety & Security, and airline clients to ensure high satisfaction levels.
Criteria for Selection
To be eligible for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Science, Commerce, or Business Administration) or a specialized Diploma in airport/ground handling.
Experience Requirements: 2–4 years in ground handling/airport operations for Degree holders, or 4–6 years for Diploma holders.
Advanced expertise in Baggage Operations and Load Control.
High proficiency in using Departure Control Systems (DCS).
Technical mastery of AACS, BELT, and RTC systems.
Deep understanding of diverse Airline Requirements and Customer SLAs.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Aircraft Turnaround Process and basic Weight and Balance principles.
Strong capabilities in data gathering, analysis, and general IT literacy.
English language proficiency at Level 5.
Exceptional skills in planning, organization, writing, and communication.
A high degree of safety awareness.
Who Can Apply
This role is designed for experienced aviation professionals who thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments and possess a “problem-solver” mindset. If you have a solid background in ground handling—specifically with expertise in baggage systems, load control, and turnaround coordination—and you are a skilled communicator capable of managing multiple stakeholders, you are encouraged to apply.
