Barista: Crafting Connection & Community at Blue Bottle Coffee
At Blue Bottle Coffee, we believe the journey from seed to cup is an art form. Our mission is simple but profound: to connect the world to delicious coffee while cultivating a sustainable future for our planet and our people. We don’t just serve beverages; we build communities through elevated craft and genuine care.
We are looking for a dedicated Barista to join our team—someone who views hospitality as a calling and coffee as a catalyst for incredible guest experiences.
The Role: Your Impact
As a Barista, you are the face of our mission. You will blend technical precision with warm hospitality to ensure every guest leaves feeling nourished.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
-
Artisanal Preparation: Expertly crafting a diverse range of beverages using various brewing methods and preparing high-quality culinary offerings.
-
Hospitality Excellence: Delivering a “guest-first” experience characterized by respect, kindness, and proactive service for customers, teammates, and vendors.
-
Continuous Learning: Engaging in regular tastings, cuppings, and in-house training to sharpen your palate and stay ahead of Blue Bottle’s evolving menu.
-
Operational Integrity: Maintaining a beautiful, clean, and organized cafe environment—taking pride in everything from dishwashing and dusting to organizing condiment stations.
-
Sustainability Advocacy: Actively participating in company-wide initiatives to meet our environmental and zero-waste goals.
-
Professional Growth: Completing the Blue Bottle Academy training and a 90-day validation process to master your craft.
Who You Are
You are a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
-
A Lifelong Learner: You are passionate about the nuances of coffee and food and eager to share that knowledge.
-
Reliable & Driven: You show up on time, bring your “A-game,” and can be counted on by your leadership and peers.
-
Inclusive & Thoughtful: You possess the “can-do” attitude necessary to anticipate guest needs and foster an inclusive space.
-
Requirements: You are at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., and have basic math/computer proficiency. You must be available for a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands of the Craft
This is a physically active role. To succeed, you must be able to:
-
Stand and walk for the duration of your shift.
-
Perform precision hand movements (pulling shots, pouring latte art, operating registers).
-
Lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs (coffee bags, milk crates, kegs).
-
Squat, bend, and reach frequently, and occasionally use ladders or stairs.
-
Utilize your senses of taste and smell to ensure every product meets our rigorous quality standards.
Why Blue Bottle?
We invest in our team as much as we invest in our beans. We offer a competitive compensation package and premium benefits:
| Category | Benefits Highlights |
