Role Summary: Software Development Engineer, AWS Platform
AWS Platform is the vital “glue” of the Amazon Web Services ecosystem, supporting an incredible 750 million transactions per second. Our team builds and manages the foundational services that power the entire cloud, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), cryptography, developer tools, and automated global billing systems. We are looking for versatile engineers who enjoy the entire lifecycle of a project—from the messy prototyping and tinkering stages to the rigorous engineering required to make a service production-ready at a massive scale.
Key Requirements & Skills

3+ years of software development experience and a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or higher) in computer science or a related discipline.

2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.

1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.

Fluency and experience in one or more of the following: Java, Ruby, or Python.

3+ years experience in object-oriented design and development.

3+ years experience in distributed systems and web services design.

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices: Including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, and analysis.

Experience building and delivering complex software systems to customers.
