Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Border Patrol Agent will include:
• Securing the U.S. borders and preventing illegal entry
• Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers
• Performing farm, traffic, building, city, and transport checks to identify any signs of illegal entry
• Providing excellent customer service to the public and other stakeholders

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
• Citizenship: Be a U.S. citizen
• Residency: Have lived primarily in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
• Age: Be referred before turning 40 (exceptions for federal or veteran law enforcement)
• Veterans: May qualify under Veterans’ Recruitment Appointment (VRA)

Training

After hiring, you will attend the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM for 6 months of instruction in immigration law, firearms, defensive tactics, Spanish, and more.

This comprehensive training program will prepare you for the challenges and demands of this role.
