Job Overview: Therapeutic Area Manager (TAM), NeuroImmunology
Genentech is seeking a highly strategic and clinical-minded Therapeutic Area Manager (TAM) to lead the NY Metro Ecosystem, specifically covering Manhattan and the Bronx. This role is dedicated to the NeuroImmunology space, focusing on delivering better health outcomes for patients with rare diseases by navigating complex healthcare systems and driving on-label clinical demand.
As a TAM, you are the primary architect of Genentech’s relationship with healthcare practitioners (HCPs) and academic institutions in your territory. You possess the autonomy to optimize business within your ecosystem while ensuring patients and caregivers can successfully navigate access and reimbursement hurdles.
Key Accountabilities & Ecosystem Strategy
Clinical Leadership & Education

Point-of-Care Expert: Serve as the primary contact for NeuroImmunology customers, identifying opportunities to align Genentech’s therapeutic area strategies with real-world clinical needs.

End-to-End Experience: Drive both clinical and non-clinical decision-making by providing expert education on product profiles, appropriate use, and the latest clinical data.

Ethical Representation: Represent Genentech products with the highest level of integrity, strictly following regulatory guidelines and utilizing approved materials.
Complex Account Management

Academic & Delivery Networks: Proactively develop solutions for high-complexity accounts, including major academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Patient Access Advocacy: Ensure product access by educating providers on reimbursement resources and patient assistance programs, triaging to specialized experts when necessary to resolve bottlenecks.

Insight Integration: Collect local market trends and “voice of the customer” insights to help shape and support Genentech’s national NeuroImmunology strategy.
Who You Are: Requirements & Qualifications
Professional Standards

Education: Bachelor’s degree at minimum (Business, Scientific, or Clinical degree preferred).

Industry Experience: Required cross-functional experience in commercial life sciences (Pharma/Biotech) engaging with key ecosystem players like payers and health systems.

Sales Tenure: 6+ years in a sales role engaging HCPs, ideally managing multiple products within a complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare environment.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and mentor peers to meet and exceed organizational goals.
Preferred Skills & Expertise

Neurology Background: Direct experience calling on Neurologists and a deep understanding of the NeuroImmunology disease state.

Territory Knowledge: Established experience working with academic institutions specifically in the Manhattan/Bronx territory.

Operational Proficiency: Skilled in addressing supply chain and reimbursement issues while maintaining strict compliance with healthcare laws and company policies.

Compensation & Field Logistics

Salary Range: $137,500.00 – $255,300.00 (Primary location: NY/NJ/CT). Actual pay is determined by experience and geographic factors.

Incentive Compensation: This role is eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan.

Travel & Mobility: Field-based role requiring significant driving (company or personal vehicle) and occasional overnight travel. Motor vehicle records will be checked for eligibility.

Residency: It is highly preferred that candidates live near the Manhattan/Bronx territory.
