Stock Team Member (Temporary) | Kirkland’s Home
Location: Store Stockroom & Sales Floor
Employment Type: Temporary (Seasonal/Project-based)
Shift Needs: Often early mornings, off-hours, weekends, and holidays
At Kirkland’s Home, the Stock Team is the engine that drives the store’s visual appeal and sales success. You are responsible for the “behind-the-scenes” magic—taking high-quality home decor from delivery trucks and getting it onto the sales floor where customers can fall in love with it. This role requires speed, a sharp eye for organization, and the physical stamina to keep a high-volume stockroom running smoothly.
Your Mission in the Stockroom
This is a high-energy role where no two shifts look the same. Your main objectives include:
-
Freight Flow: Assisting in the receipt of all merchandise. You’ll be the first to handle new arrivals, ensuring they are checked in safely and efficiently.
-
Inventory Organization: Maintaining a “backroom-ready” environment. An organized stockroom means a faster replenishment process for the sales floor.
-
Replenishment & Merchandising: Moving product from the back to the front. You’ll help execute markdowns, assemble products (like furniture or displays), and ensure shelves are full and inviting.
-
Urgency & Initiative: Kirkland’s moves fast. You’ll need a “can-do” attitude to meet shipment processing deadlines and handle bulky, high-demand home goods.
What You’ll Need to Bring
-
Physical Strength: You must be able to lift and move 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. You will be handling bulky items, climbing ladders, and repeatedly stooping or bending.
-
The “Kirkland’s Attitude”: You are energetic, competitive, and results-oriented. Even when working early morning “off-hours,” you bring a professional and positive vibe.
-
Communication: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and company directives.
-
Availability: Because shipments often arrive when the store is closed, you must be available for early mornings and weekends.
The Freight-to-Floor Workflow
To maintain the “Be GREAT” selling model, the stock team follows a precise cycle to ensure the sales floor never looks empty.
-
Unload & Sort: Sorting incoming freight by category (e.g., wall decor, furniture, textiles).
-
Ticketing & Markdowns: Ensuring every item has the correct price tag and executing any required price changes.
-
Sales Floor Fill: Prioritizing high-velocity items to fill gaps on the sales floor.
-
Backstock Maintenance: Stowing overstock in a way that makes it easy for the next team member to find.
