Job Summary: Sr. Operations Manager (Fulfillment Center)

Are you an experienced leader ready to own the operational pulse of a massive fulfillment network? Amazon is seeking a Sr. Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the budgetary, people development, and operational excellence of our University Park site. In this high-impact role, you will be the architect of site-wide success, leading a multi-tiered management team to deliver on the “Amazon Smile” while building a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience.

  • 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.

  • Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.

  • Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and termination.

  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field and MBA (Preferred).

  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons (Preferred).

  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations (Preferred).

The Role

As a Sr. Operations Manager, you will oversee all aspects of Inbound or Outbound operations, driving Lean initiatives and process changes to exceed business plans. You will set the standard for safety and quality, holding Operations and Area Managers accountable through rigorous performance feedback and coaching. Beyond strategy, this is a physically active leadership role that requires walking an average of 5 miles daily within a quarter-mile-long facility, ensuring best practices are shared across the global network. You will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and Safety to secure resources for your department while nurturing the leadership bench strength of your team.

Additional Job Elements:

  • Walking/standing an average of 5 miles daily in facilities over 0.25 miles long.

  • Lifting/moving up to 49 lbs and navigating stairs, ladders, and gangways.

  • Operating in varied distribution environments (construction, noisy, or unconditioned).

Location: University Park, IL

Salary Range: $135,000 – $182,700 USD annually (plus sign-on and RSUs)
