Role Summary: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Last Mile Technology
Last Mile Delivery & Technology is the innovation engine at Amazon focused on redefining the speed and safety of the global delivery experience. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be at the forefront of this mission, leading the mechanical and thermal development of advanced machine vision and compute hardware. You will architect novel solutions for automotive and industrial environments, transforming complex business challenges into production-ready hardware. This role requires a hands-on leader who can navigate ambiguity, communicate concepts visually, and drive the hardware lifecycle from initial sketch to global deployment.
Key Requirements & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development of consumer, industrial, or automotive electronics

Experience developing functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional test procedures

Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CREO, or similar)

Understanding of production manufacturing processes (injection molding, die casting, sheet metal)

Experience writing technical documents, project plans, and progress reports

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Experience leading engineering design projects and interacting with cross-functional teams

Experience with prototyping techniques to enable test platforms and validate design concepts

Proficiency with FEA simulation tools for thermal and structural analysis

Familiarity with regulatory compliance and automotive mechanical standards
