Job Overview: School-Based Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope

Student Assessment & Therapy

  • Comprehensive Evaluations: Conduct formal assessments to determine eligibility for services and identify specific speech, language, or swallowing disorders.

  • Service Delivery: Provide in-person therapy using both Push-In (working within the classroom) and Pull-Out (working in a separate therapy space) models.

  • Plan Communication: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure the therapy plan is integrated into the student’s daily routine.

Documentation & Compliance

  • IEP Management: Complete Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and end-of-year reports to track student progress and maintain legal compliance.

  • Session Notes: Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes, either manually or through electronic health record systems.


Requirements & Qualifications

Mandatory Criteria

  • Education: A completed Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders.

  • Setting: Must be able to provide in-person services at school sites.

  • New Grads: Clinical Fellows (CFY) are encouraged to apply and will be provided with supervision.
