Job Description
Are you a dedicated social work professional who thrives in high-stakes environments where every decision makes a difference? The Department of Social Development is looking for Social Workers to join our After Hours Emergency Social Services (AHESS) team. We are the safety net for New Brunswickers, providing essential protection and support services when the rest of the province is at rest. If you have the “grit” to handle complex crisis assessments and the “wit” to navigate intricate provincial regulations under pressure, this is your opportunity to lead with integrity.
In this role, you are the first line of defense for children and adults at risk. Working after hours requires a high degree of autonomy and clinical confidence. You won’t just be taking calls; you’ll be conducting high-level priority assessments that determine the immediate safety of families. Whether you are coordinating with local agencies or approving emergency benefits for someone in need, your work directly improves the lives of your fellow citizens. We look for individuals who are “Commitment to Learning” oriented—those who stay updated on best practices and apply them with empathy and professional judgment.
Joining the New Brunswick Public Service means joining a team that values diversity and equal opportunity. We offer a structured, professional environment with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. We provide a “scent-reduced” and inclusive workplace where your technical skills in planning and organizing are just as valued as your ability to communicate effectively in both official languages. If you are ready to be a calming force in a crisis and a champion for Social Development’s mission, we invite you to apply to this inventory.
Applications are reviewed monthly. Help us safeguard our communities, one night at a time.
