Role Summary

The Pet Associate (Retail Sales Representative) at PetSmart is tasked with interacting with animal owners and their companions while delivering upbeat encounters and maintaining the firm’s vision, goals, principles, and commercial plan. This position also involves mutual accountability for facility hygiene and upkeep, animal protection protocols, and the immediate supervision of animals housed within our location.

Primary Task Accountabilities

Role duties encompass, but are not restricted to, the items listed below and may fluctuate based on facility traits and requirements:

• Accountable for the animal owner’s journey and results handled face-to-face, via telephone, at the point-of-sale, and through digital channels.

• Welcomes animal owners and addresses their inquiries throughout the premises.

• Organizes digital transactions for in-facility retrieval and guarantees a seamless, upbeat collection process.

• Accountable for the biological welfare of company-owned animals, which involves feeding, hydration, and sanitizing all animal enclosures (avian, reptilian, small mammal, insect, and aquatic tanks).

• Preserves comprehensive facility hygiene protocols.

• Assists the facility with weekly cost adjustments and monthly promotional price updates.

• Arranges and categorizes incoming inventory to align with sales floor blueprints.

• Organizes, replenishes, and restores merchandise to adhere to sales floor aesthetics.

• Advises on, informs about, and transacts goods, amenities, and live animals.

• Provides company-owned animal treatments as instructed by medical professionals.

• Endorses specialized programs such as rescue events, Treats program signup, philanthropic initiatives, etc.

• Guarantees a protected setting for our staff, animals, and owners.

• Accountable for taking prompt steps when an unwell or harmed animal is spotted in the facility; providing transport to medical clinics as required.

• Supports and functions in various zones across the facility (including service departments) as needed. Additional tasks may be delegated.

• Engages in our atmosphere of Inclusion and Recognition.

• Complies with all Corporate Guidelines and Steps.

Requirements

• Robust written and spoken interaction capabilities.

• Versatility in timing, with the capacity to work nights, Saturdays/Sundays, and seasonal breaks as needed.

• Capacity to respond effectively under tension and keep a calm demeanor.

Primary Physical Demands and Workspace Setting

• Staff member needed to remain upright, move about, scale a ladder, and utilize hands for manipulation, sensing, grasping, scribing, etc. The staff member is frequently needed to extend hands and limbs; bend, crouch, huddle, converse, and listen. Specific visual traits needed for this role encompass depth awareness. Appropriate adjustments may be offered to allow individuals with limitations to perform primary tasks.

• Staff member must frequently hoist and/or shift up to 50 lbs and occasionally perform a group lift and/or shift exceeding 100 lbs. Specific visual traits needed for this role encompass depth awareness.

• While executing these role duties, the staff member is occasionally near active mechanical hardware, as well as a humid setting with significant animal dander. The auditory volume is average in the workspace; however, staff may be near loud volumes periodically. Contact with live creatures and their management is standard.
