Guest Sales & Services (GSS) Associate | Arizona Science Center

Reports To: Guest Sales & Services Manager

The Arizona Science Center is more than a museum; it’s a hub for inspiration and STEM discovery. As a GSS Associate, you are the face of this journey. You are the first person to welcome families, students, and science enthusiasts, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience through exceptional service and expert knowledge of our 300+ exhibits, giant-screen theater, and planetarium.

Your Role: The “Mission Specialist”

Your primary goal is to act as a concierge for curiosity. You will guide guests through their ticket options and help them navigate everything the Center has to offer.

• Exceptional Service: Provide a warm, enthusiastic welcome to guests of all ages.

• Sales & Admissions: Utilize sales techniques at the Admissions Zone to drive growth, specifically by explaining the value of different membership levels and current attractions.

• Expert Knowledge: Be the “go-to” for theater schedules, traveling exhibitions, and daily live demonstrations.

• Financial Accuracy: Promptly and accurately process cash, checks, and credit card transactions.

• Team Versatility: Stay flexible to rotate through roles such as Group Greeter, Information Zone, Membership Zone, Science Shop, and Ticket Taker.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Experience: One year of guest service and cash handling is preferred, but we will provide on-the-job training for the right candidate.

• Demeanor: An outgoing, friendly, and helpful personality is non-negotiable.

• Flexibility: Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekdays and weekends.

• Team Mindset: Success here depends on working seamlessly with your fellow associates to meet sales goals and resolve guest issues.

The GSS “Sales Funnel”

As a GSS Associate, you follow a customized sales process to ensure every guest gets the most value out of their visit.

1. Discovery: Asking guests about their interests (e.g., “Are you interested in space or dinosaurs today?”) to recommend specific theaters or exhibits.

2. Education: Explaining the difference between a one-day ticket and the long-term benefits of a family membership.

3. Upselling: Offering “add-ons” like traveling exhibitions or a giant-screen movie.

4. Closing: Processing the transaction accurately and providing the “Day-of-Visit” itinerary.
