Pay Range: $20.35 – $22.10 per hour.
Position Type: Part-Time, 5-Month Contract.
Shift: Overnights (may include weekends).

Key Responsibilities

Merchandise Flow: Unload trailers and move freight from staging areas to the sales floor or “striping” them into overhead storage.
Pack-Down & Stocking: Ensure shelves are fully stocked and fronted; execute “pack-down” by bringing merchandise from high overheads to eye level for customers.
Power Equipment Operation: Utilize reach trucks, forklifts, and order pickers to move large pallets and heavy items safely.
Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick, pack, and label customer orders, ensuring items are staged in designated holding areas without damage.
Aisle Excellence: Maintain “shoppability” by ensuring aisles are clean, safe, and visually appealing before the store opens.
Safety & Security: Strictly follow Loss Prevention and Safety policies, especially when operating machinery in proximity to other team members.

Candidate Profile

Physical Grit: Ability to lift, push, pull, and reach for extended periods; comfortable climbing ladders up to 16 feet high.
Technical Wit: 1–2 years of retail or distribution experience is an asset, particularly if you have a background in operating heavy warehouse equipment.
Organizational Mastery: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to coordinate with the Freight Team Supervisor and fellow associates.
Communication: Effective verbal skills to ensure product is stocked in the correct departments and safety protocols are followed.

Technical Insights: The Freight Flow Process

To maintain a high-volume retail environment, Home Depot utilizes a specific “Flow-to-Floor” methodology.

“Striping” the Overheads: This is a specific organization technique where items are placed in the overhead directly above their “home” location on the shelf. This minimizes the time spent searching for stock during peak hours.
