Night Female Care and Support Assistant – Part Time

Website Luton Borough Council

Job Summary: Night Female Care and Support Assistant (Reablement)

Luton Borough Council is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Reablement Support Worker to join their Adult Social Care team. In this vital role, you will help individuals regain their independence, confidence, and daily living skills following an illness or hospital discharge. By providing short-term, intensive support in the client’s own home, you play a critical role in preventing unnecessary hospital readmissions and helping people return to their normal lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reablement Support: Assist clients in achieving specific goals to restore their independence (e.g., mobility, personal care, or household tasks).

  • Personalized Care: Provide high-quality, dignified support tailored to the individual’s recovery plan.

  • Collaboration: Work as part of the Adult Social Care team to ensure transitions from hospital to home are safe and effective.

  • Professionalism: Maintain accurate records and communicate progress effectively to supervisors.

Requirements

  • Gender: This role is open to women only due to the nature of the personal care required and specific client preference (exemption under the Equality Act 2010).

  • Experience: Previous experience in a care or reablement setting is required.

  • Commitment: Ability to work 21 hours per week, including a mix of weekdays and weekends.

  • Dedication: A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people to achieve positive outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

This role offers a highly competitive pay structure, which significantly increases for weekend and night work:

Shift Type Hourly Rate
Weekday (Basic) £13.05
Saturday £19.58
Sunday & Bank Holiday £26.10
Night Shift (Weekday) £17.40
Saturday/Sunday Night £35.82

Why Choose Reablement?

Working in reablement is distinct from long-term domiciliary care. It is goal-oriented and time-limited. Instead of “doing for” the client, you are “doing with” the client to empower them. If you enjoy seeing the direct, positive impact of your work as clients recover their independence, this role is exceptionally rewarding.
