Job Summary
Facility Operations is responsible for the operation and upkeep of City-owned and City-managed properties, representing approximately 900 facilities. These include police and fire stations, libraries, child care centres, paramedic posts, recreation and cultural venues, public works sites, City Hall, administrative buildings, long-term care homes, and outdoor facility areas. Facility Operations teams provide maintenance and facility management services within designated geographic zones and specialized service areas.
In this position, you will carry out operational and maintenance-related tasks across City facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, light carpentry and minor maintenance duties, painting, landscaping and grounds care, snow clearing, basic equipment repairs, and general housekeeping functions. You are expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer service. The role may require working rotating schedules, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.
Education and Experience

Completion of Grade 10

Up to one month of related work experience
Certifications and Licences

Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certification considered an asset

Language Requirement: English oral, reading, and writing proficiency required

Police Record Check: Successful candidates must complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) through the appropriate Police Services detachment to the satisfaction of the City of Ottawa. Applicants under 18 years of age must complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) in place of a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3). Police checks obtained through third-party providers will not be accepted.

Starting Rate: Initial pay may be set at 95% of the starting hourly rate in accordance with the collective agreement.

Equivalency: Relevant experience and formal training, supported by demonstrated performance and ability, may be accepted as an alternative to the stated education requirements.
