Position: Lifeguard – Part-Time – City of Ottawa
The City of Ottawa invites applicants to join as Part-Time Lifeguards within the Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services Department. This role focuses on ensuring patron safety in pools and aquatic facilities through vigilant supervision, enforcing rules and regulations, performing rescues, and administering first aid in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:

Monitor pool areas to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations

Perform rescues and provide first aid as needed to preserve life

Administer rules consistently to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons

Work effectively with team members to respond to emergencies

Maintain awareness of health, safety, and emergency protocols
Education & Experience:

Completion of Grade 10

Minimum age: 15 years
-
Previous experience working with the public in recreational settings is an asset
Certifications & Licenses:

Current National Lifeguard Pool Certificate

Current Lifesaving Instructor Certificate (asset)

Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates

Current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate

AODA Accessibility/IASR Training
Knowledge:

Departmental policies, guidelines, and directives within Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services

Applicable health and safety legislation, including worker rights and duties
