Job Overview: Implementation Manager (IBOR) – Charles River Development

State Street is seeking a Senior Consultant/Implementation Manager to lead the deployment of the Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS). As part of Charles River Development (CRD), you will work on the foundational infrastructure of State Street Alpha, the industry’s first open front-to-back investment platform.

This role is critical for institutions transitioning to an Investment Book of Record (IBOR) model, ensuring that middle-office workflows, position reconciliation, and security lifecycles are seamlessly integrated into their daily operations.

Key Responsibilities & Project Lifecycle

Implementation Leadership

  • End-to-End Delivery: Define client requirements, configure/tune the CRIMS application, lead user training, and manage rigorous testing phases before taking clients “live.”

  • Product Expertise: Serve as the primary subject matter expert, guiding clients on how to optimize their Front and Middle Office workflows using Charles River’s methodology.

  • Post-Go-Live Ownership: Ensure the client is fully prepared to assume ownership and operate the solution independently after the implementation project concludes.

Strategic Sales & Product Growth

  • Sales Support: Analyze customer requirements to assist in sales opportunities, deliver technical presentations, and execute Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects.

  • Feedback Loop: Identify and document potential product enhancements based on client needs and market trends, communicating these directly to Product Management and Client Support.

Qualifications & Technical Requirements

Professional Experience

  • Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the financial industry (consultancy or software vendor).

  • Domain Expertise: Must have deep experience with Middle Office workflows, including security life cycle events, corporate action processing, and daily position reconciliation.

  • System Knowledge: Experience leading implementations of Front/Middle Office systems (Order Management, Compliance, or IBOR) is highly valued. Familiarity with matching platforms like CTM or TradeNeXus is a plus.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • SQL Proficiency: Mandatory. You must be able to query and navigate relational database structures.

  • Business Systems Analysis: Strong ability to act as a bridge between technical architecture (messaging systems, multi-tier environments) and business requirements.

  • Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills to resolve complex workflow issues and software defects.

Education

  • Degree: 4-year degree in Finance, Mathematical Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree (Masters/MBA) or industry certification such as the CFA.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $100,000 – $167,500 Annual (Based on the primary location).

  • Total Rewards: Eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive package including 401(k) with company match, medical/dental/vision, long-term disability, and paid volunteer days.

  • Growth: Access to State Street’s vast development programs and the Flexible Work Program.

Logistics & Travel

  • Locations: Primary office in New York, NY, with additional hubs in Clifton, NJ; Princeton, NJ; Burlington, MA; Boston, MA; Stamford, CT; and Berwyn, PA.

  • Travel Requirement: Typically 30–50% travel to client sites across the United States and Canada.

    The Company & Culture
State Street is a global leader in investment servicing and asset management, handling over 11% of the world’s financial assets. Its culture is a blend of two centuries of tradition and a massive 2026 push toward “Agentic AI” and digital finance. Employees often describe the environment as “collegial yet complex,” where the focus is on stability and risk management. As of 2026, CEO Ronald O’Hanley has steered the firm toward a “Front-to-Back” digital strategy, meaning the culture is shifting from legacy processing to a tech-first, data-intelligence mindset. While known for its “Fearless Girl” icon and strong diversity goals (including a target for 35% female leadership), the day-to-day experience can involve navigating a large corporate hierarchy with a heavy emphasis on global inclusion and cross-border teamwork.

    The Location
State Street’s New York presence is centered in the heart of Midtown Manhattan at 1290 Avenue of the Americas (between 51st and 52nd Streets).

    • The “1290” Hub: This quintessential Midtown skyscraper, owned by Vornado and the Trump Organization, has been fully modernized. Working here places you on “Corporate Row,” adjacent to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall.

    • Modern Amenities: Following recent renovations, the office features a double-height rooftop pavilion and a state-of-the-art fitness center on the 17th floor.

    • The Environment: The office reflects a high-profile corporate atmosphere, with LEED Gold certification and triple-height glass entrances, designed to attract top-tier talent in the competitive NYC financial market.
