Job Overview: Housekeeping Inspector
Delaware North Parks and Resorts is seeking a detail-oriented Housekeeping Inspector to join the team at Yavapai Hotel in Grand Canyon, Arizona. This is a seasonal, full-time leadership role focused on maintaining the “Total Cleanliness” of guest rooms and public areas in one of the world’s most visited natural wonders.
As an Inspector, you act as the final gatekeeper for quality, ensuring that every room meets the high standards expected by National Park visitors. You will balance hands-on cleaning with administrative oversight, staff training, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities & Operational Standards
Quality Control & Inspection

Room Certification: Conduct rigorous inspections of guest rooms and public outlets to ensure they meet cleanliness and safety standards before guest arrival.

Maintenance Liaison: Identify and report maintenance issues within guest rooms or department equipment, ensuring repairs are handled efficiently.

Reporting: Complete the daily housekeeping report to provide management with an accurate status of the hotel’s “room inventory.”
Leadership & Coordination

Daily Planning: Coordinate activities and staff assignments to ensure guest rooms and public areas are cleaned on schedule.

Training: Assist in the onboarding and training of new housekeeping team members to ensure consistency in cleaning protocols.

Support: Lead by example by performing cleaning duties during staff shortages or high-occupancy “slower days.”
Logistics & Inventory

Supply Management: Prepare weekly inventories, check in supplies, and report discrepancies.

Procurement: Inform the Housekeeping Supervisor of needed items and create purchase orders to maintain necessary stock levels.

Mandatory Skills

Experience: Housekeeping experience is required. Previous commercial cleaning or guest service experience is preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, utensils, and heavy-duty equipment (vacuum cleaners, dryers, etc.).

Communication: Ability to read English and speak/print simple sentences for reporting and team coordination.

Math: Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction for inventory and reporting purposes.
Candidate Profile

Leadership: Previous supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Education: No high school diploma or GED required.

Adaptability: Must be available to work days, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements

Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs for an 8-hour shift.

Mobility: Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and kneeling to complete “scrubbing/washing” duties or inspections.

Strength: Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Visual Acuity: Sharp vision is required to detect subtle cleanliness issues on various surfaces.
