This is a critical back-of-house operational role at the Mercure Abu Dhabi Downtown , a key property within the Accor global portfolio. As a Receiving & Store Clerk , you act as the “Gatekeeper” of the hotel’s assets. You are responsible for ensuring that every item entering the building—from fresh culinary ingredients to high-end guest amenities—meets the hotel’s strict quality, quantity, and pricing standards. This role is essential for maintaining the property’s “operational efficiency” and protecting the hotel’s bottom line through meticulous inventory control.

Job Responsibilities

The Receiving & Store Clerk ensures the hotel’s supply chain remains transparent and accurate:

  • Goods Inspection: Physically inspecting all incoming deliveries for quality, expiration dates, and damage, ensuring they align with the hotel’s 4-star standards.

  • Accuracy Verification: Matching physical deliveries against Purchase Orders (POs) and invoices to ensure quantities and prices are 100% accurate.

  • Documentation: Managing the hotel’s digital and physical records by accurately inputting data into the inventory management system (eg, FMC or Sun Systems).

  • Inventory Control: Organizing and maintaining the storage areas to ensure “First-In, First-Out” (FIFO) principles are followed and inventory is easily accessible.

  • Temperature Monitoring: Ensuring that all perishable items are received and stored within the correct temperature ranges to comply with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) regulations.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and Executive Chef to report any delivery discrepancies or quality issues immediately.

Candidate Requirements

The Mercure team seeks a professional with a “zero-error” mindset:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a receiving, warehousing, or storekeeping role, ideally within a fast-paced hotel environment.

  • Education: A College Diploma is a mandatory requirement for this position.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage paperwork and physical stock simultaneously while keeping a tidy workspace.

  • Communication: Excellent command of English for coordinating with international suppliers and internal department heads.

  • Technical Skills: Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized hotel inventory software.
