Answering to the Wellness Lead or Nursing Director, the Health Care Aide delivers individual support and carries out specific duties within their expertise, following the guidance of leadership while complying with legal mandates and corporate protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• To follow the designated wellness strategy established by management;

• To help with resident admissions and relocations when necessary;

• To monitor and document resident support utilizing designated corporate documentation;

• To aid the resident with individual grooming, sanitation, and daily life tasks;

• To notice and alert management regarding shifts in a resident’s physical state;

• To report urgent medical crises to leadership or emergency responders when needed;

• To organize and cook healthy food options as necessary;

• To help with walking, movement, repositioning, and use of orthopedic tools;

• To show comprehension of resident requirements and optimize their capabilities;

• To offer mental, interpersonal, and heartwarming encouragement to the resident and relatives;

• To preserve the privacy of resident records;

• To address resident or family feedback and confirm proper steps are followed or shared with leadership;

• To help keep the surroundings tidy and secure, including personal items and medical tools;

• To alert leadership to any risks regarding resident welfare, including the building layout, apply guided solutions, and support the resident’s protection;

• To interact with external providers regarding resident wellness as instructed;

• To participate in training sessions to grow professional expertise;

• To function in a high-trust capacity with at-risk elderly individuals;

• To maintain and champion the company’s principles regarding ethics and professional character;

• To carry out additional tasks as delegated.

Qualifications

• Alumnus of a Health Care Aide curriculum (or regional equivalent with at least 500 hours of instruction and clinicals in AB/ON)

• Background in assisting elderly clients within community medical environments

• Must exhibit robust verbal and documentation abilities

• Proven proficiency in organization and managing schedules

• Excellent relational and service-oriented capabilities

• Must have shown reliable expertise in delivering individual hygiene support

• Valid CPR/BCLS and First Aid credentials suggested

• Physical capacity to execute job-related movements, such as moving or guiding residents.

• Must submit a finished and recent Vulnerable Sector screening or be prepared to secure one.
