Head Cashier – Part-Time
The Home Depot in Kanata is seeking a motivated Head Cashier to support Front End operations and lead a team of associates in delivering outstanding customer experiences. This role includes coaching, training, scheduling, and first-level escalation of customer issues while maintaining smooth front-end operations and promoting a positive, team-oriented environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Satisfaction
• Model GET behaviours and foster positive morale among front-end associates.
• Maintain checkout efficiency: lines should not exceed one at the register plus two waiting.
• Conduct daily walkthroughs from a customer perspective to ensure Grand Opening readiness, ad/playbook execution, and flyer visibility.
• Monitor staffing levels and work activity to meet business needs.
• Provide coaching, training, guidance, tools, and recognition to associates to help them meet goals and take on increased responsibilities.
Leading the Front End
• Communicate store goals, priorities, and directions to front-end associates.
• Ensure parking lot is safe, clean, and free of debris.
• Assign back-up cashiers to registers as needed.
• Operate cash machines and train associates in their use.
• Assist with cash collection alongside security personnel.
Safety and Security
• Adhere to all Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
• Ensure front-end processes mitigate shrink and protect store assets, while coaching associates to do the same.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of retail or cash experience is an asset.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.
• Strong interpersonal, cash handling, and leadership skills.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and move items.
