Job Overview: Full-Time Nanny & Family Assistant (Manhattan)

A busy family with two “cooperative” children (ages 3 and 6) is seeking a high-energy, versatile Nanny/Family Assistant. This is a comprehensive role that combines active childcare with household management. Both parents work out of the home, so they are looking for a reliable professional who can manage the children’s schedules and the household’s needs independently.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, organized, and comfortable shifting between childcare and assistant tasks like running errands and managing light housekeeping. This role is noted as being an excellent fit for a student between college and grad school or a former Au Pair with strong references.

Job Details & Responsibilities

Childcare & Transportation

  • School Logistics: Manage morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups for both children.

  • Driving: Must be a confident driver, specifically for trips outside of New York City.

  • Engagement: Provide attentive care for a preschooler and a school-aged child, including meal and snack preparation.

Family Assistant & Household Support

  • Errands & Tasks: Proactively manage grocery shopping, household errands, and organizational projects.

  • Housekeeping: Handle light laundry and general tidying (supporting the family’s part-time housekeeper).

  • Tech Proficiency: Assist with “tech-savvy” tasks as needed to keep the household and schedules running smoothly.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Must have checkable professional nanny references.

  • Driving: Valid driver’s license and comfort driving outside of Manhattan.

  • Availability: Ability to provide overnight care when parents travel and commit to multiple weeks of travel/work during the summer.

  • Location: Local candidates only; no relocation assistance is provided.

Salary, Schedule & Benefits

  • Employer: Sittercity (Private Family)

  • Location: Manhattan, NY

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM (55 hours per week).

  • Estimated Hourly Rate: Based on Manhattan market rates for this dual role, pay typically ranges from $30.00 – $40.00 per hour.

  • Estimated Annual Salary: Due to the 55-hour work week (including 15 hours of overtime at time-and-a-half), the gross annual salary is estimated between $100,000 and $130,000, plus stipends for travel and overnights.

Why This Role?

This position is a “Big Role” for a motivated professional. The 55-hour guaranteed schedule provides significant financial stability and a high earning potential through consistent overtime. It offers a great blend of responsibilities—perfect for someone who doesn’t want to be “stuck in the house” all day and enjoys the variety of running errands and driving. The family’s description of their children as “cooperative” suggests a positive, manageable environment for a focused caregiver.

Application Information

Interested candidates should apply through Sittercity. Your profile should clearly highlight your driving experience, your “tech-savvy” skills, and your flexibility for summer travel and overnights.
