Operating with high autonomy, the Assistant Store Manager aids the Store Manager in every dimension of retail operations. Utilizing GameStop’s proprietary “Circle of Life” business strategy—encompassing buy, sell, trade, and reservations—you will cultivate a high-performance sales environment. You will design tailored solutions for every visitor, ensuring superior service through professional expertise and an authentic enthusiasm for the industry. You are responsible for maintaining optimal product visibility, driving revenue through technical knowledge, upholding a pristine shop floor, and securing long-term customer retention. This leadership role involves direct supervision of Retail Keyholders and Sales Associates when the Store Manager is off-site.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Elite Guest Engagement: Promptly acknowledge visitors, address inquiries with professional courtesy, and assist in fulfilling gaming requirements. Highlight active promotions, suggest complementary products, and apply established sales techniques during all transactions to ensure every guest feels prioritized over administrative tasks.

  • Atmosphere Management: Sustain the total retail environment, overseeing visual merchandising, operational workflows, and active sales campaigns that foster repeat business.

  • Transaction Accuracy: Execute purchases and returns via the Point of Sale (POS) system with precision. Handle currency, manage inventory bagging, and ensure documentation is accurate and professional.

  • Inquiry Resolution: Manage phone and in-person communications using corporate-approved greetings. Proactively escalate complex complaints to the Store Manager to ensure swift resolution.

  • Benefit Promotion: Drive adoption of GameStop-exclusive programs, including the Pro Rewards loyalty tier, trade-in incentives, and upcoming title reservations.

  • Team Development: Partner with leadership to set service standards and train staff on corporate policies, safety protocols, and operational best practices.

  • Performance Monitoring: Observe staff interactions, deliver constructive feedback, and log performance data into the Workday HR system to ensure alignment with store objectives.

  • Administrative Compliance: Verify that all team members finish onboarding and compliance training before assuming independent shifts. Manage scheduling, oversee break rotations, and monitor staffing levels to optimize service.

  • Financial & Payroll Oversight: Approve payroll records, manage time-off requests/edits, and ensure every associate is compensated accurately for their labor.

  • Facility Maintenance: Keep all store sections, including restrooms and fixtures, organized and compliant with visual guidelines.

  • Logistics & Asset Protection: Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Implement loss prevention strategies, monitor inventory shrink, and conduct package inspections at shift end. Execute daily bank deposits and reconcile business totals within the POS system.

  • Inventory Control: Lead inventory counts, restock sales floor fixtures from the warehouse, and ensure all merchandise is organized and alphabetized for easy browsing.

  • Safety & Standards: Maintain a safe environment by identifying hazards and reporting injuries immediately. Adhere to all opening/closing protocols and the corporate Code of Ethics.
