Job Summary: E & I – Journeyman Instrumentation

Surepoint is currently seeking high-level Instrumentation Technicians to join a major industrial project in Alaska. This role is centered on the precision installation, calibration, and maintenance of critical process control systems. The Journeyman Technician is responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation—measuring variables like pressure, flow, temperature, and level—operates with absolute accuracy. This position is ideal for technical professionals who enjoy complex troubleshooting and “hands-on” engineering support, from initial tubing layout to final commissioning and start-up.

Key Responsibilities

Instrument Calibration & Maintenance: Install and calibrate field instruments, including transmitters, analyzers, and control valves, ensuring they meet precise process specifications.
Technical Documentation: Read and interpret complex P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop diagrams, and technical drawings to guide installation and repair.
Tubing Systems: Design and install instrument tubing, including the layout, precision bending, and termination of lines.
System Verification: Perform functional loop checks, signal verifications, and comprehensive troubleshooting for both electronic and pneumatic systems.
Commissioning Support: Actively support the start-up phase of the project, collaborating with engineers and project managers to verify system integrity.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; a Technical or College Degree in Instrumentation is strongly preferred.
Certification: Journeyman License or a recognized Instrumentation Certificate is preferred.
Experience: Prior professional experience in industrial instrumentation is required.
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability in precision bending, mechanical layout, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying, often harsh, Alaskan environmental conditions.
Licensure: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
