Content and Events Marketing Executive
Company: Katie Bard (recruiting for a Fintech firm)
Location: Birmingham City Centre (Hybrid: 2 days in-office)
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum
Professional Job Summary
A forward-thinking financial technology (Fintech) firm in Birmingham is seeking a versatile Content and Events Marketing Executive. This role sits at the intersection of creative storytelling and logistical precision. You will be responsible for defining the firm’s voice through high-level thought leadership and content creation, while simultaneously executing a calendar of internal and external events. This is an ideal position for a marketing professional who enjoys switching between strategic PR messaging and hands-on event management. The company operates a modern, hybrid model, allowing for a strong work-life balance while remaining connected to the firm’s Birmingham-based innovation hub.
Key Responsibilities
-
Thought Leadership & Content: Produce a wide range of marketing collateral, including long-form blog posts, industry articles, newsletters, and social media content that establishes the firm as a thought leader in Fintech.
-
PR & Media Relations: Act as the internal liaison for the PR agency; develop detailed briefs, review messaging to ensure strict brand alignment, and identify new opportunities for media commentary and press features.
-
Event Coordination: Support the Event Coordinator in the full lifecycle of events, from initial research and venue scouting to the delivery of webinars, industry exhibitions, and internal company functions.
-
Campaign Management: Craft and deploy email marketing campaigns that engage stakeholders, track performance metrics, and drive brand awareness.
-
Brand Advocacy: Ensure that every piece of content—whether digital or event-based—adheres to the company’s tone of voice and strategic positioning within the Fintech sector.
Required Qualifications & Skills
-
Marketing Foundation: Essential experience in marketing, communications, or PR (agency or in-house backgrounds are both welcomed).
-
Content Mastery: Demonstrable experience in creative writing, editing, and content strategy for digital channels.
-
Events Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for the logistics of event management and a “hands-on” approach to webinar and exhibition delivery.
-
Communication: Ability to distill complex Fintech topics into clear, accessible, and engaging content for a professional audience.
-
Organizational Agility: Proficiency in managing multiple deadlines across content calendars and event project plans simultaneously.
About the Company
The recruiting firm is an innovative leader in the Fintech space. In an industry defined by rapid change, they prioritize agility, cutting-edge software solutions, and a collaborative work culture. Based in the heart of Birmingham, they offer a professional environment that values creative input from all team members.
Market & Industry Context
The UK Fintech sector is currently one of the most competitive and fast-paced markets in the world. As financial services become increasingly digital, firms must rely on “Content-Led Marketing” to build trust with customers. This role is vital: you aren’t just writing blogs; you are building the firm’s reputation in a market where brand authority is the primary currency.
Career Growth & Progression Path
-
Marketing Manager: This role is a direct pipeline to a Marketing Manager position, where you would own the full marketing strategy rather than executing individual workstreams.
-
PR/Communications Lead: By working closely with the PR agency, you can progress into a dedicated Communications Manager role, handling high-level corporate reputation and crisis management.
-
Events Director: With experience in large-scale exhibitions and international webinars, you can evolve into an Events Director, owning the firm’s entire national and international event portfolio.
Interview Preparation Insights
-
The “Fintech” Hook: You don’t need to be a coder, but you do need to understand the Fintech landscape. Research what “Fintech” means to a Birmingham-based firm—what are the current trends (e.g., open banking, digital payments, AI in finance)?
-
Content Audit: Be ready to present examples of your writing. If you have a portfolio, bring it. Be prepared to explain why a specific piece of content you wrote was successful.
-
Event Logistics: Talk about an event you supported. Don’t just say you “helped”; explain your contribution to the planning, research, or execution stages.
-
Agency Relations: If you have worked with agencies before, explain your experience. If not, explain how you would manage an agency to ensure they deliver work that matches your brand’s standards.
