Job Overview: Social Media & Community Manager (CPG)

Aquent is representing a global leader in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) to find a culture-first Social Media & Community Manager based in New York City. This is a strategic role for someone who understands that modern brand-building happens in the comments section and real-time cultural conversations, not just through polished campaigns.

You will be the “human” voice of iconic food and beverage brands, responsible for turning everyday social interactions into high-value brand moments that drive long-term loyalty and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Execution

Community Engagement & Real-Time Culture

  • Active Participation: Own cross-platform engagement, managing proactive and reactive interactions across TikTok, Instagram, X, and YouTube.

  • Cultural Agility: Identify “surprise-and-delight” opportunities to inject the brand into trending moments and cultural conversations beyond owned content.

  • Scalable Frameworks: Build workflows that encourage User-Generated Content (UGC) and turn casual followers into brand advocates.

Activation, Advocacy & Gifting

  • Product Seeding: Lead fan engagement initiatives, including product seeding, sampling, and gifting programs to drive organic reach.

  • Advocacy Programs: Execute repeatable outreach playbooks for product launches and major brand campaigns.

  • Engagement Tools: Serve as the internal expert on community management technologies and partner ecosystems.

Brand Voice, Governance & Risk

  • Editorial Leadership: Act as the final word on brand voice for all social interactions, ensuring consistency, speed, and quality.

  • Crisis & Reputation: Monitor and triage sensitive interactions, executing escalation protocols with Legal, PR, and Customer Care to protect brand reputation.

  • Insights & Intelligence: Use social listening tools to monitor sentiment and translate behavioral signals into actionable campaign strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Professional Experience

  • Tenure: 4–6 years of experience in community management, social engagement, or audience strategy.

  • Platform Fluency: Deep expertise in the nuances of TikTok, Instagram, and emerging social platforms.

  • Tech Stack: Proficiency with enterprise-level tools such as Sprinklr, Khoros, or Sprout Social.

Core Competencies

  • High-Volume Moderation: Proven success managing a high-volume social presence for a major consumer brand.

  • Exceptional Communication: Masterful control of brand voice and tone, with the ability to write copy that feels human and relatable.

  • Strategic Judgment: Strong “gut feel” for reputation-sensitive scenarios and the ability to operate in fast-paced, culture-driven environments.

Why Join This Global CPG Organization?

  • Iconic Brands: Work with household names in the food and beverage space that have massive, active audiences.

  • Strategic Influence: At this organization, community management is viewed as a “strategic growth lever,” not just basic moderation.

  • Innovation: Stay at the forefront of social trends, testing and learning on emerging platforms and activation technologies.

  • Collaborative Environment: Partner cross-functionally with Creative, Influencer, and PR teams to shape the future of digital connection.
