Position: Cardio/Weight Room Attendant – City of Ottawa (Part-Time)
The City of Ottawa invites applications for Part-Time Cardio/Weight Room Attendants to oversee and assist customers at City fitness facilities. This role ensures the safe and effective use of cardio and weight equipment, promotes a positive customer experience, and supports the operations of recreational facilities. Multiple part-time permanent positions are available with flexible shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assist patrons using cardio and weight room equipment

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and facility policies

  • Provide customer service and guidance to facility users

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and fitness areas

  • Demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment and safe exercise practices

  • Perform cash handling as required (training provided)

  • Support team and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 10

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience providing service to the public in a recreational facility

Certifications and Licences:

  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates

  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of department facilities, programs, and policies

  • Knowledge of fitness programs, equipment, and safe exercise practices

  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and worker rights/duties

  • Asset: familiarity with corporate computer software
