Job Summary

The Director, Finance and Supply Chain Management at Edmonton Airports (YEG/ZVL) is a high-impact executive role responsible for the fiscal integrity and operational procurement of “Airport City.” Managing a 7,000-acre land base and an ecosystem that served 7.92 million passengers in 2024, this leader acts as the Corporate Controller. You will balance the “wit” of complex consolidation accounting and treasury management with the “grit” required to oversee supply chain logistics for a 24/7/365 aviation hub.

  • Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer and VP Culture and Risk.

  • Direct Reports: 4 Managers (Total team of ~23).

  • Mandate: Financial controllership, strategic SCM, risk mitigation, and cross-functional leadership.


Key Accountabilities

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Ensure the absolute accuracy and timeliness of internal/external financial reporting and statutory compliance.

  • Strategic Controllership: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, monthly performance forecasts, and capital project reporting (including depreciation and inventory summaries).

  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee the procurement of major service contracts and the materials handling teams to ensure the high-quality storage and flow of goods.

  • Risk & Tax Planning: Develop robust internal control frameworks and manage all federal, provincial, and local tax compliance (Income, Excise, Payroll).

  • External Relations: Act as the primary liaison with auditors, bankers, lenders, and government agencies to support the airport’s $1.3 billion+ in private investment.

  • SBU Collaboration: Partner with Strategic Business Units to provide evidence-based financial analysis that drives revenue and manages cost drivers.


Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 15+ years of related accounting experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.

  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Finance/Accounting and a Canadian CPA designation.

  • Technical Wit: Strong grasp of consolidation accounting, treasury experience, and corporate tax preparation. Exposure to ASNPO and ASPE standards is a benefit.

  • Operational Grit: Demonstrated ability to manage complex supply chain contracts and operate effectively in high-pressure, team-oriented environments.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to translate high-level vision into actionable tasks for a diverse team of nearly 1,000 employees.

Managing a major airport’s finances requires navigating a unique mix of aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue streams.

  • Capital Project Reporting: With over 7,000 acres of land, YEG’s balance sheet involves massive infrastructure assets. You will oversee capital schedules that track the lifecycle of runways, terminals, and “Sustainability Campus” innovations.

  • Consolidation Accounting: As a hub for hotels, casinos, and retail, the Director must consolidate diverse business data into a cohesive financial narrative.

  • ESG & The Amazon Climate Pledge: YEG is the first airport to commit to net-zero emissions by 2040. You will be responsible for the financial modeling of green energy transitions and sustainable infrastructure investments.
