Full Job Description
Pursuit’s Anchorage office serves as the central administrative and operational headquarters for The Alaska Collection. While most “guest-facing” roles are located at remote lodges (like Denali or Kenai Fjords), the Anchorage team focuses on the high-level strategy, reservations, and corporate support that keep the entire Alaskan portfolio running. Working here offers a professional corporate environment combined with the adventurous culture of the tourism industry.
Typical Roles & Responsibilities:
-
Reservations & Sales: Reservations Agents manage high-volume inquiries, booking multi-day itineraries across hotels, marine tours, and transport lines. This requires a “Sales-through-Service” approach and deep knowledge of Alaska’s geography.
-
Executive Support: Roles like Executive Assistant or Operations Administrator support the VP and General Manager. This involves complex calendar management, coordinating travel between remote lodge sites, and acting as a central liaison for senior leadership.
-
People & Culture (HR): Managing the massive seasonal recruitment cycles required to staff Alaska’s tourism season, including onboarding, housing coordination, and employee engagement initiatives.
-
Finance & Accounting: Handling the complex revenue streams of multiple business lines, including accounts payable/receivable and vendor contract management.
-
Operations Leadership: Directors of Hotel or Marine Operations oversee the long-term advancement of lodging and dining standards across all Alaska properties.
Qualifications:
-
Professionalism: For office-based roles, strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and reservation software is standard.
-
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills are required to coordinate with remote lodge managers and international travelers.
-
Experience: Entry-level reservations roles often require 1+ years of customer service; administrative and management roles typically require 3–5+ years of specialized experience.
-
Native Preference: Pursuit often aligns with local hiring practices that value Alaska Native and American Indian applicants.
-
Flexibility: While based in an office, some roles require travel to remote sites during the summer season (May–September) and occasional weekend/holiday work.
Company Perks (The #PursuitLife):
-
The “Pursuit Pass”: Free access to iconic attractions, including the Kenai Fjords Tours and various shuttles/tours throughout Alaska.
-
Travel Discounts: 50% off for friends and family, along with significant discounts on hotel stays and dining at Pursuit’s global locations (Banff, Jasper, Glacier Park, etc.).
-
Hybrid Options: Some corporate support roles in Anchorage may offer hybrid work-from-home flexibility depending on the department.
-
Career Growth: As a global company owned by Viad Corp, there are opportunities to transfer to iconic locations outside of Alaska, such as the Canadian Rockies or Iceland.
