Job Overview: Barista and Cashier (Juneau, AK)

Heritage Coffee Roasting Co. is seeking energetic Baristas and Cashiers to join their team in Juneau. As the “front line” of a local Alaskan staple, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality specialty coffee while ensuring every guest has a positive experience.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Beverage & Food Excellence

  • Specialty Craft: Prepare coffee and a wide variety of specialty drinks according to company recipes and quality standards.

  • Order Management: Accurately take customer orders and handle cash and digital transactions.

  • Equipment Care: Clean and maintain the café and all specialized coffee equipment to ensure longevity and hygiene.

Guest Relations & Upkeep

  • Customer Support: Proactively assist with customer questions and resolve any complaints with a positive attitude.

  • Sanitization: Maintain a clean and sanitized work area, ensuring the café remains welcoming for all guests.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Age & Eligibility: Must be 18 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States.

  • Education & Skills: Possession of basic math and computer skills for register operations.

  • Demeanor: A strong work ethic and a positive, “guest-first” attitude.

Experience & Certifications

  • Experience: 6 months of customer service experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Health Safety: Must have or be able to obtain an Alaska Food Worker Card within 30 days of being hired.


Salary, Schedule & Benefits

  • Pay: Starting from $14.00 per hour (plus tips, which are standard in the barista industry).

  • Job Types: Full-time and Part-time opportunities are available.

  • Shift: Primarily Day shifts.

Working here involves joining a local legacy that prioritizes high-quality, small-batch roasting and a “community-first” café atmosphere. Staff members are expected to be coffee enthusiasts who can maintain a fast pace during the busy cruise ship season while providing consistent, friendly service to year-round local residents.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Drink Preparation: Dialing in espresso and crafting a wide range of hot and cold beverages, including signature lattes, pour-overs, and specialty Alaskan blends.

  • Customer Engagement: Providing knowledgeable recommendations on various roast profiles and whole-bean coffee for home brewing.

  • Food Service: Serving locally made pastries, breakfast items, and light lunch fare while maintaining food safety standards.

  • Café Upkeep: Ensuring the seating area and service stations are pristine, restocking retail coffee shelves, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

  • Efficiency: Managing high-volume rushes at multiple locations, including their downtown shops, drive-thrus, and the Mendenhall Valley café.
