The Assistant Service Manager position at Super C is a front-line leadership role, essential to the fluidity of retail operations in Quebec City.   • Salary: $30,000 – $60,000 per year (Scale based on experience and management responsibilities).

  • Key Requirement: Proven management experience and mastery of Point of Sale (POS) systems.


Key Responsibilities: The Service Management Cycle

You orchestrate the customer experience, from store entry to the final transaction.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and assist cashiers and service clerks to ensure a warm and professional welcome.

  • Operational Planning: Organize schedules and breaks to ensure optimal checkout coverage, especially during high-traffic periods.

  • Systems Oversight: Master the checkout system to resolve technical issues, process merchandise returns, and manage cash drawer openings/closings.

  • Inventory Management: Oversee supply stocks for the service department and ensure that front-end displays are always well-stocked (checkout merchandising).

  • Customer Service: Intervene in complex customer situations to provide quick and satisfactory solutions, embodying the Super C brand image.

  • Logistical Flair: An ability to anticipate lineups and reallocate human resources instantly to maintain flow.

  • Operational Grit: The resilience needed to manage the unexpected (absences, technical breakdowns) while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

  • Technical Expertise: An in-depth knowledge of checkout procedures and pricing policies to ensure transaction integrity.


Technical Overview: Efficiency in the Service Zone

Managing a service department in a supermarket relies on specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Checkout Throughput: You will aim to optimize the number of customers served per hour per cashier while minimizing average wait times.

  • Cash Balancing Accuracy: You will be responsible for verifying deposits and explaining any inventory or monetary discrepancies at the end of the shift.

  • “Hot Zone” Management: Learning to identify and clear bottlenecks near the entrance and express checkouts to avoid congestion.
