Job Summary: AI Engineer / AI Developer (Contract)

Gigged.AI is facilitating the recruitment for a high-impact Outside IR35 contract role focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainability. As part of a global organization’s mission to reach net-zero emissions by 2030, you will design and build a pilot AI solution to revolutionize Fleet Management.

This project moves beyond simple tracking, aiming to automate complex diagnostics and data-driven decision-making for a global fleet transitioning to electric and hybrid technologies.

Project & Financial Details

Project Name: AI-Driven Fleet Management Pilot.
Role Type: Contract (Outside IR35).
Rate: £600 per day (flexible based on experience).
Duration: 6 Months.
Start Date: April 2026.
Location: Mainly Remote (occasional travel to Glasgow or London is advantageous).

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Development: Lead the discovery, design, and prototyping of an AI solution that utilizes telemetry and maintenance data.
LLM Integration: Evaluate and implement Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate fleet diagnostics and generate actionable insights.
Architecture Design: Build a scalable, cloud-native architecture on Azure or AWS that can eventually be transitioned from pilot to full production.
Data Engineering: Extract, transform, and clean datasets from varied sources (operational logs, asset data, maintenance records) using SQL and Python.
API Development: Create robust APIs to integrate the new AI services with existing internal fleet management systems.

Technical Requirements

Core Languages: Expert-level Python and SQL.
Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS.
AI/ML Expertise: Proven experience in designing end-to-end AI/ML architectures and working with LLMs.
Integration: Solid experience in API development and system-to-system integration.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to engage with stakeholders to translate operational pain points into technical requirements.
