Job Overview
The Access & Privacy Specialist ensures compliance with The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (LAFOIP), managing FOI requests, advising staff, conducting privacy audits, facilitating policy development, and supporting privacy breach prevention and investigations.
Requirements

University degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Certified Records/Health Information designation

3–5 years of LAFOIP, FOIP, or HIPA administration experience

Knowledge of privacy legislation, policy development, and records management
-
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities

Process FOI applications and provide guidance on police incident-related requests

Deliver educational sessions on privacy legislation

Review, redact, and release records per LAFOIP
-
Conduct privacy impact assessments and monthly audits

Advise on privacy breaches, mitigation, and prevention

Support policy and procedure development

Liaise internally and externally regarding access and privacy matters

Assist with complaints, appeals, and inter-agency agreements
