As an Able Bodied Seaman for the State of Alaska, you will serve as a skilled deck crew member responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of state vessels. Primary Duties Wheel and lookout watches, steering/navigation, deck maintenance, loading/unloading car deck, operating deck machinery (winches, cranes), and emergency squad duties.
Work Schedule Generally 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off; 8–12 hour shifts; 24/7 environment.

Southeast (SE): Ketchikan, Juneau


Southwest (SW): Homer, Valdez

Pay Rates

Resident Rate: $28.16 (SW) – $31.02 (SE) per hour


Non-Resident: $24.67 (SW) – $26.50 (SE) per hour


Overtime paid at 1.5x.
