Corner Collection: Independent Luxury in Old Montreal

Corner Collection is an award-winning hospitality group defined by a 2026 culture of collective passion, creative ownership, and a mission to “captivate, inspire, and delight.” Born in 2022 following the strategic separation of the historic Groupe Antonopoulos, Corner Collection is managed by the four children of founder Tony Antonopoulos. The brand represents a “step forward” in independent luxury, where high standards are balanced with the Greek philosophy of philoxenia (the love of strangers) and a deep respect for Montreal’s heritage.

In 2026, Corner Collection stands as a dominant force in the “art of living” within Old Montreal:

1. The Montreal Property Architecture

The portfolio consists of iconic buildings repurposed into high-end social and lodging hubs, forming an interconnected ecosystem:

  • Hôtel Place d’Armes: A 169-room treasure housed in four neoclassical 19th-century buildings. It features the Rainspa, a luxury wellness center famous for its traditional Hammam, and the popular Terrasse Place d’Armes.

  • Hôtel Nelligan: A classic 105-room luxury boutique hotel on Saint-Paul Street, celebrating the spirit of Quebec poet Émile Nelligan. It is home to Nelli Bistro and Terrasse Nelligan.

  • Corner Apartments: A 2026 expansion offering premium units for extended stays, providing the comfort of a home with the curated services of a luxury hotel.

  • Celebrated Restaurants: The collection includes Brasserie 701, Modavie (live jazz and French fare), Kyo Bar Japonais, and the high-energy Méchant BÅ“uf.

2. Strategic Pillars: “Intentional & Personal”

The Corner Collection model is built on three pillars that differentiate it from massive global hotel chains:

  • The “One Ecosystem” Approach: Their hotels, restaurants, and spas operate as a unified network where travelers and locals naturally converge, sharing a consistent high-standard experience.

  • Independent Luxury: By remaining family-owned, each property is developed with a unique “point of view” and custom design, avoiding generic brand templates.

  • Intuitive Service: Following the “Back to Basics” 2026 trend, service is prioritized as unscripted and human, focusing on creating emotional connections rather than just perfect transactions.

3. Company Culture: “The Corner Crew”

Internally, the group fosters a culture of “Thinking Collective,” where employee well-being and professional ownership are central to the business model:

  • “Crew” Identity: Staff members are encouraged to be “fearless” in trying new ideas and taking personal ownership of the guest experience.

  • Bilingual Heritage: The workplace reflects a “European sensibility meets North American energy,” requiring professional fluency in both French and English to navigate the Old Montreal market.

  • Supportive Community: A 2026 focus on work-life balance through flexible scheduling and team-building events designed to celebrate collective success.

4. 2026 Career & Compensation Benchmarks

Working at Corner Collection offers a prestigious role within Montreal’s luxury hospitality tier with an extensive benefits package:

  • Compensation Highlights (2026 Estimates):

    • Bilingual Receptionist / Front Desk: ~$21.00 – $24.00 per hour.

    • Chef de Partie / Line Cook: ~$22.99 – $27.00 per hour.

    • Maître d’Hôtel / Sales Manager: Salaries ranging from $65,000 – $78,000+ per year.

  • The “Corner Perks” (2026):

    • Dining Excellence: An exceptional 50% discount at all group restaurants (Brasserie 701, Modavie, etc.) for employees and their loved ones.

    • Commuter Support: At least one free month of STM public transportation per year and a 10% discount on Bixi subscriptions.

    • Lifestyle Discounts: Significant reductions at Rainspa, local yoga studios (Luna Yoga), and even high-end hair salons.

    • Financial Security: Full-time members gain access to group insurance and a group RRSP program with employer contributions after three months.

Working with Corner Collection means being part of a “Family-Led Hospitality Legacy.” Whether you are a Therapist at Rainspa or an Analyst at their Old Montreal headquarters, the experience is defined by the opportunity to “create moments of joy” in the most historic corner of the city.
