You will act as the “Trusted Co-Pilot” for a mother whose husband travels for work, providing her with much-needed respite. This role requires the “wit” to engage a preschooler and a grade-schooler simultaneously with creative play and the “grit” to maintain a safe, energetic environment whether at the local park, the building pool, or the indoor playroom.

Key Responsibilities: The “Active Play” Cycle
You are responsible for turning “mom’s errand time” into “adventure time” for the children.
-
Creative Engagement: Facilitate drawing sessions, storytelling, and toy-based play that caters to both a 3-year-old’s imagination and a 6-year-old’s developing skills.

Active Supervision: Escort and supervise the children at the nearby park, ensuring high-energy outdoor play remains safe.

Amenity Management: Utilize the building’s specialized spaces, including the pool and playroom, requiring a high level of water safety awareness and group management.

The “Kind & Patient” Caregiver: Ideal for someone who genuinely loves the “discovery phase” of early childhood.
-
Safety Wit: Ability to manage two children of different ages in public spaces (parks/pools) with constant vigilance.

Neighborhood & Logistics: Bayview Village
Bayview Village is one of Toronto’s most family-friendly “urban-suburban” hubs.

Transit Access: The neighborhood is well-served by the TTC (Bayview Station), making it an easy commute for a student or local part-timer.
Why Join Assane’s Family?
Working for a private family offers a personal connection and a flexible environment that corporate roles lack.
-
Supportive Environment: The mother will be home initially to help you settle in, ensuring you aren’t “thrown into the deep end” without context.
-
Competitive Local Rate: At $20–$25/hour, this is at the higher end of the Toronto babysitting market, recognizing the responsibility of managing two children.
-
Impactful Work: You aren’t just “watching” kids; you are providing a vital mental health break for a parent, making you an essential part of the family’s support system.
Job Description
Do you believe that a great afternoon is measured in drawings made and stories told? Assane’s Family is seeking a Babysitter / Childminder in North York. We aren’t looking for a “screen-monitor”; we are looking for a creative spirit who has the “grit” to keep up with a 6-year-old at the park and the “wit” to keep a 3-year-old engaged with a book. If you want to help a friendly family find balance while the father is away for work, you belong here.
In this role, you are a “Joy Facilitator.” You understand that when Dad is traveling, a little extra help goes a long way. Your goal is to provide “Excellence in Childcare,” ensuring Mustafa and Yacine are safe, happy, and active. We look for “Reliable-first” individuals who are kind, patient, and ready to play.
Joining this family means becoming a trusted part of their North York home. We offer a friendly atmosphere and a competitive hourly rate for your expertise. If you are a caregiver with a commitment to “Play-Based Learning and Child Safety,” we invite you to reach out through Sitly and meet the family today.
Sitly: Empowering Neighborhood Childcare
Sitly is a global, independent, and profitable childcare platform defined by a culture of autonomy, humility, and “getting things done.” Its mission is to “help all parents find timely, flexible, and reliable childcare” by functioning as a neighborhood hub rather than a traditional agency. The internal environment is lean and diverse, characterized by a small, high-impact team of roughly 42 people from over 20 nationalities who value “smart spending” of time and a “radically testing” approach to new ideas.
In Toronto and across Canada, Sitly has become a vital component of the urban childcare ecosystem, especially as the city navigates the final year of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) expansion in 2026:
-
The Toronto Hub: Sitly operates as a massive digital marketplace in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In 2026, it supports over 7,500 babysitters and 2,500 active families in Toronto alone, with significant clusters in Mississauga, Brampton, and Markham.
-
A Different Kind of Platform: Unlike traditional agencies, Sitly is not a job agency. It provides a “neighborhood hub” where parents and sitters connect directly.
-
Direct Interaction: Users chat, interview, and set their own rates ($15–$30+ per hour depending on experience and location).
-
No Screenings: Sitly does not perform background checks; instead, it empowers parents to conduct their own interviews and vetting, fostering a culture of parental agency and peace of mind.
-
-
The “Independent & Unfunded” Edge: Sitly is a rare “unfunded” success story in the tech world. Founded by Jules van Bruggen, the company remains independent and profitable. This independence filters into the workplace culture, where there is a strong focus on long-term sustainability over “growth at all costs.”
-
Technological Innovation in 2026:
-
Map-Based Discovery: A highly visual interface allows parents to see exactly where sitters are located in their immediate neighborhood (e.g., Liberty Village, The Annex, or North York).
-
AI-Assisted Matching: In 2026, the platform utilizes enhanced filters for “Last Online” and “Experience Level” to help parents find immediate, on-call help.
-
Mobile-First Experience: Most interactions occur via the Sitly app (iOS/Android), which features instant push notifications for new job matches.
-
-
Workplace Culture (The “Eclectic” Team):
-
Diverse Perspectives: With a team representing 22+ nationalities, Sitly prioritizes an “inclusive community” that reflects the diverse families it serves in global hubs like Toronto.
-
Autonomy & Knowledge: The company’s shared values are Promoting Autonomy, Honoring Humanity, and Prioritizing the Pursuit of Knowledge.
-
Career Growth: While the core team is based in Europe (Amsterdam/Brussels), their Canadian operations are supported by remote-first marketing and customer success specialists who enjoy a high degree of independence.
-
Working with Sitly in Toronto means being part of a “Human-Centric Tech” movement. Whether it’s a parent finding “me time” for the first time in months or a student finding a flexible job in their neighborhood, the experience is defined by Sitly’s vision of an equitable society where childcare support is instant and reliable.
