Job Summary
The Business System Analyst (BSA) – Enterprise Payment and Fraud Protection at HCLTech is a senior-level technical consultancy role embedded within a large-scale retail ecosystem. Based in Downtown Vancouver, you will be the “Strategic Architect” of security, bridging the gap between high-volume e-commerce transactions and sophisticated fraud detection engines. This role requires the “wit” to analyze complex API data flows across SaaS platforms and the “grit” to manage end-to-end risk solutions in a high-pressure, agile environment where every millisecond of latency or false positive impact’s the company’s bottom line.
Job Details
-
Employer: HCLTech (Global IT services leader).
-
Location: Downtown Vancouver, BC (5 days a week on-site).
-
Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 annually.
-
Status: Full-time.
-
Core Focus: Fraud prevention, payment risk, and retail systems integration.
Key Responsibilities: The Fraud Mitigation Lifecycle
You are responsible for the technical integrity of the “Trust Layer” in the retail purchasing journey.
-
Risk Solution Integration: Oversee the end-to-end implementation of top-tier fraud applications (e.g., Forter, CyberSource, Adyen, or Sift).
-
Transactional Analysis: Analyze “Pre-Auth” and “Post-Auth” flows to determine where fraudulent activity can be intercepted without disrupting legitimate customer experiences.
-
Technical Documentation: Create exhaustive technical specifications for data integrations, including APIs and file-based exchanges between distributed systems.
-
Cross-Functional Flow Mapping: Trace how data moves from a Point of Sale (POS) or e-commerce storefront through to inventory management and financial settlement.
-
Effort Estimation: Provide precise impact assessments for new technical solutions and influence decision-making during architectural reviews.
-
Performance Monitoring: Leverage AWS Services, monitoring tools, and BI dashboards to track the health and accuracy of fraud detection models.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
-
The “Senior Analyst”: 5+ years of experience as a BSA in an enterprise environment (1000+ employees).

-
Methodology Mastery: Advanced understanding of Agile/Scrum and the technical underpinnings of CI/CD pipelines and container management.
-
Leadership: Strong negotiation and facilitation skills, with a willingness to challenge the status quo and champion change.
Technical Insights: Pre-Auth vs. Post-Auth Fraud Detection
Understanding the timing of a fraud check is critical to balancing security with conversion rates.
-
Pre-Authorization: The check happens before the bank is asked to approve the funds. This is crucial for avoiding transaction fees on fraudulent attempts but requires ultra-low latency to avoid “cart abandonment.”
-
Data Integration (APIs): You will be analyzing JSON payloads to ensure that “Device Fingerprinting,” IP geolocation, and behavioral biometrics are correctly passed from the frontend to the fraud engine.
-
Retail Ecosystem Connectivity: You must ensure that if a transaction is flagged as fraud, the Inventory Management System is instantly updated to release the “held” stock back to the shelf.
