This role requires the “wit” to safely operate high-reach equipment in tight residential or commercial spaces and the “grit” to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

-
Boom Operation: Utilize hydraulic boom equipment to offload and place heavy materials like drywall, lumber, or roofing at heights or across obstacles.

Air Brakes (Z Endorsement): As a DZ driver, you must be proficient in the daily inspection of air brake systems to ensure the safety of heavy loads on Ottawa’s hills and highways.
-
Outrigger Physics: When using a boom, the truck’s center of gravity shifts. You must understand how to properly deploy outriggers/stabilizers to prevent the vehicle from tipping, especially on soft or uneven ground common in “The Valley.”
-
Load Charts: Skilled operators must be able to read load charts to know the maximum lifting capacity of the boom based on its extension angle and distance.

-
Work-Life Balance: The Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends is a rare benefit in the trucking industry, allowing for consistent personal time.
-
Total Compensation: In addition to competitive wages based on your experience, you receive health and dental benefits, vacation pay, and a pension plan.
Job Description
Do you believe that precision is just as important as speed? Nepean Building Supplies is seeking a DZ Driver with Boom experience. We aren’t just looking for a “trucker”; we are looking for an expert operator who has the “grit” to deliver during an Ottawa snowstorm and the “wit” to thread a pallet of drywall through a second-story window with a boom. If you want to grow with a respected family business and be home every weekend, you belong here.
In this role, you are a “Delivery Hero.” You understand that a construction project stops if the materials don’t arrive. Your goal is to provide “Excellence in Safety and Service,” ensuring our customers get exactly what they need, exactly where they need it. We look for “Team-first” professionals who are hardworking, flexible, and ready to contribute to a thriving local company.
Joining Nepean Building Supplies means joining a team that values mutual respect and safety above all else. We offer a permanent home for your career with the benefits and pension you deserve. If you are a DZ driver with a commitment to “Precision Boom Operation and Safe Delivery,” we invite you to apply and help us build Ottawa together.
