The Organization & Culture Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital (NMH) is a historic cornerstone of East Texas healthcare, celebrating over 95 years of service. In 2026, the hospital is entering a transformative era. Following a period of financial instability under previous management (Lion Star), the Nacogdoches County Hospital District regained control and, as of March 2026, has officially entered a long-term lease agreement with Tenet Healthcare. Under this deal, NMH and its rehabilitation center now operate as campuses of Nacogdoches Medical Center (NMC).
The current culture is one of restoration and community pride. Employees often describe a “family” atmosphere where staff are deeply committed to the “People First” mission. While the transition to Tenet management brings the resources of a larger national health system, the local team remains focused on maintaining its identity as a community-centered facility that treats the neighbors they know by name.
