Job Overview: Airport Custodial Lead (Day Shift)

The City of Springfield is seeking a Custodial Lead Worker to oversee cleaning operations at the Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF). Key Responsibilities & Supervisory Focus

Operational Oversight

  • Facility Maintenance: Oversee the comprehensive cleaning and maintenance of terminal buildings, restrooms, gate areas, and administrative offices.

  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure all areas meet the City’s standards for sanitation and presentation.

  • Resource Management: Monitor the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that all tools are in good working order and distributed effectively.

Team Leadership

  • Shift Supervision: Direct the daily activities of the custodial team during the day shift, assigning tasks and adjusting priorities based on flight schedules and foot traffic.

  • Coaching & Training: Provide guidance to team members on best practices for industrial cleaning, chemical safety (SDS), and equipment operation.

  • Problem Solving: Act as the first point of contact for immediate cleaning needs or customer service escalations within the airport terminal.


Requirements & Qualifications

Professional Experience

  • Tenure: At least two (2) years of custodial experience is required.

  • Leadership: Strong supervisory or lead-worker skills are highly preferred.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Licensing: A valid Driver’s License is required for those who will be operating City-owned vehicles.

  • Security Clearance: As this position is based at an airport, the successful candidate must be able to pass a background check to obtain necessary airport security badges.
