Job Overview: Emergency Medicine Physician (Rockville Centre, NY)

Progressive Emergency Physicians (PEP), in partnership with Catholic Health Services, is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Emergency Medicine Physician to join the team at Mercy Medical Center.

This role offers a unique opportunity to join a physician-led, democratic partnership model. Unlike traditional staffing models, PEP emphasizes clinician ownership, accountability, and a direct say in the group’s innovation and operations.


Facility & Department Highlights

The Emergency Department

  • Capacity: A fully equipped, 27-bed facility designed for high-acuity care.

  • Specialized Care: Dedicated treatment rooms for resuscitation, EENT, orthopedics, OB/GYN, and cardiac emergencies.

  • Technology: Fully integrated with the EPIC EMR system for seamless patient data management.

Ancillary Services Physicians are supported by a robust suite of on-site services, including:

  • Advanced Diagnostics: Comprehensive Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology.

  • Cardiac Care: On-site Catheterization Laboratory.

  • Recovery: Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation services.


Key Accountabilities & Professional Scope

  • Clinical Excellence: Provide high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced setting.

  • Leadership: Participate in a culture of accountability, contributing to the clinical and operational success of the department.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff to optimize patient flow and outcomes.

  • Ownership Mindset: Engage with the unique PEP partnership model, potentially moving toward an ownership stake in the group.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM/AOBEM).

  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Active (or eligible for) New York State medical license and DEA registration.

  • Experience: Ability to manage high-acuity cases across the gamut of specialized treatment rooms.
