Job Overview: Senior Java Developer (E-Trading)

Lorven Technologies is seeking a high-caliber Senior Java Developer for a contract role in New York City. This position is focused on the architecture and development of mission-critical, low-latency electronic trading systems.

This is a hybrid role (3 days onsite in NYC) designed for a technical leader who can navigate the complexities of asynchronous, event-driven programming while managing deliverables for a high-performance team.


Key Technical Stack & Requirements

Core Development & Architecture

  • Java Mastery: 5+ years of experience in Core Java server development (specifically JDK 11 or 17).

  • Low Latency Expertise: Proven experience designing and supporting high-throughput trading applications where every microsecond counts.

  • Messaging & Integration: Extensive use of Apache Camel (Version 3) and JMS (Active MQ or similar) for complex routing and event-driven architectures.

  • Concurrency: Deep expertise in asynchronous programming and multi-threaded systems.

Frameworks & Data

  • Spring Ecosystem: Proficient in Spring Boot and Spring Boot Actuator for microservices and system monitoring.

  • APIs: Design and implementation of REST APIs with a focus on Enterprise Authentication and Authorization.

  • Databases: Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and/or Sybase.

Leadership & Process

  • Team Lead: A track record of leading small-to-medium teams, mentoring junior developers, and taking ownership of project deliverables.

  • DevOps & Agile: Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, SonarQube) within an Agile framework.


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Domain Depth: Specific experience with US Treasuries, Futures, or Swaps.

  • Third-Party Integration: Familiarity with integrating proprietary systems with ION, TradeWeb, or Bloomberg.

  • Capital Markets: Understanding of RFQ (Request for Quote) workflows and how derivative instruments are priced and valued.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • Communication: Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to bridge the gap between technical requirements and business needs.

  • Mindset: Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced trading environment.


Position Logistics

  • Location: NYC (Onsite/Hybrid).
