Guest Service Assistant – Ibis Styles Glasgow George Square

Website RBH Hospitality Management

Job Summary: Guest Service Assistant

Ibis Styles Glasgow George Square is looking for a high-energy Guest Service Assistant to join their team. Managed by RBH Hospitality Management—recently rated a “Top 30 Best Place to Work in Hospitality”—this role is perfect for someone who enjoys a varied workday. Unlike a traditional hotel desk job, this is a multi-skilled position where you will handle everything from front desk operations to food and beverage service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Front-of-House Ambassador: Act as the face of the hotel, managing the check-in and check-out process and providing a warm Glasgow welcome.

  • Concierge & Support: Be the local expert for guests, offering recommendations for dining and attractions while handling calls and emails.

  • F&B Operations: Work in a licensed bar (preparing and serving drinks) and assist in the kitchen with meal preparation and service.

  • Financial Accuracy: Process bookings and payments with high attention to detail to ensure a hassle-free stay.

  • Facility Maintenance: Perform cleaning duties (both Front and Back of House) and coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to resolve guest requests.

  • Problem Solving: Navigate fast-paced shifts and special requests with a positive, “can-do” attitude.

Role Details

  • Location: George Square, Glasgow (City Centre).

  • Work Type: Part-time.

  • Management: RBH Hospitality Management.

Candidate Requirements

  • Personality: A naturally welcoming and bright personality who thrives on human connection.

  • Versatility: Willingness to “jump in” across different departments (Bar, Kitchen, Reception) as needed.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for guest interaction and team coordination.

  • Reliability: Sharp attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

  • Adaptability: High energy levels for a fast-paced city centre environment.

Employee Benefits

  • Financial Perks: Competitive pay, Life Insurance, and Wagestream (access your pay as you earn it).

  • Savings: Free meals on duty (estimated value of over £1,000 per year) and 30% F&B discounts at RBH hotels.

  • Travel: Discounted hotel room rates for you, your friends, and your family.

  • Wellbeing: Enhanced parental leave, an additional day off for your birthday, and an Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Career Growth: Course sponsorship opportunities and “Refer a Friend” bonuses up to £250.

Why this role is “The Ibis Styles Way”

Ibis Styles hotels are known for being personality-led rather than just process-led. In this George Square location, the team operates with a “one team” mentality. You aren’t just a receptionist; you are a host. This means you might start your shift checking in a tour group and end it crafting a perfect coffee or drink at the bar.

Application Tip: Emphasize your Versatility

Because this role includes bar and kitchen duties alongside reception, the hiring manager is looking for flexibility.

  1. Mention your “Hospitality Heart”: If you have experience in retail, bar work, or a previous hotel role, highlight how much you enjoy the variety of the work.

  2. Local Knowledge: Since George Square is a hub for tourists, mentioning your knowledge of Glasgow’s “hidden gems” (best brunch, quickest route to the West End) will show you can add immediate value.

  3. Teamwork: Give a specific example of a time you helped a teammate in a different department during a busy rush.
