This is a critical “Technical Support” role within dnata Technical Services (a division of the Emirates Group ), the world’s leading air and travel services provider. As a Maintenance Technician , you will act as the “Mechanical Engine” of the workshop, providing essential support to senior technicians in the servicing, fault-finding, and repair of a massive fleet of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), heavy vehicles, and specialized airport plant. This position is designed for an “Operationally Gritty” professional who can navigate the “Technical DNA” of hydraulics, electrics, and refrigeration systems while adhering to the rigorous safety standards of the aviation industry. You will be instrumental in minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring that Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC) remain the world’s most efficient hubs.

Key Responsibilities

You will manage the “Reliability Lifecycle” of specialized aviation equipment:

  • Diagnostic & Repair Support: Assisting in the effective diagnosis and repair of faults on vehicles and plants to ensure “Zero-Delay” operations and minimized downtime.

  • Scheduled Maintenance: Executing preventive maintenance as per manufacturer recommendations, ISO standards, and EASA/GCAA regulatory requirements.

  • Specialized Systems Care: Maintaining and repairing high-value assets including Ground Power Units (GPU) , Preconditioned Air (PCA) units, and neutralization plants.

  • Equipment Operation: Operating forklifts and access equipment safely to facilitate complex maintenance tasks.

  • Daily Safety Inspections: Assisting in the rigorous daily inspection of all equipment to identify potential failures before they lead to operational accidents.

  • Logistical Documentation: Ensuring every shift activity and work order is meticulously recorded in the Maintenance Management System to assist planning staff.

  • Workshop Governance: Maintaining “Pristine Housekeeping” in all work areas and ensuring all specialized tools are accounted for and maintained.

Candidate Requirements and Skills

dnata seeks a “Technically Proficient Mechanic” with a focus on aviation safety:

  • Technical Pedigree: 2+ years of experience as an Auto, Electric, or Facilities Mechanic , ideally within the aviation ground support or cargo handling industry.

  • System Intelligence: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and air-con systems for light/heavy vehicles or material handling equipment.

  • Specialized Advantage: Training in hydraulics, PLC’s, AC-DC motor control systems , or conveyor systems will be considered a major asset.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: A solid understanding of MOE, EASA, and GCAA safety regulations and standards.

  • Communication Mastery: Proven ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbal and written) for reporting and log-book entries.

  • Licensing: Possession of a UAE or Home Country Driving License; A valid ADP (Airside Driving Permit) is preferred for ramp-side roles.
