Job Summary

The Resident-Centered Health Care Aide (HCA) at AgeCare is a heart-centered role within one of Calgary’s premier senior living providers.     • Hourly Equivalent: Typically ranges from $21.50 – $26.50 per hour based on the current Alberta HCA wage grid and years of service.

Core Responsibilities

  • Personal Care: Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and specialized skin care.

  • Mobility Support: Safely assist with resident transfers, positioning, and ambulation using appropriate lift equipment and techniques.

  • Nutritional Assistance: Support meal delivery and provide individualized feeding assistance as required by resident care plans.

  • Environment Maintenance: Perform light housekeeping tasks within resident suites to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable living space.

  • Social Engagement: Encourage and facilitate participation in recreational programs and social activities to combat isolation and enhance quality of life.

  • Observation & Reporting: Monitor residents for physical or cognitive changes and provide accurate documentation to the nursing team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Certification: Must hold a recognized Health Care Aide Certificate from an accredited institution.

  • Registry: Must be currently registered in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional empathy, patience, and a “resident-first” mindset.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

  • Communication: Clear verbal and written English skills to ensure accurate reporting and meaningful interaction with residents and families.
