Job Description
Are you an educator who finds joy in the “lightbulb moments” of early childhood? Kids U is looking for a Group Teacher Assistant to help us “inspire young learners” in Calgary. We believe that every child is capable and curious, and we need a team member who has the “wit” to design engaging activities and the “grit” to manage the beautiful, busy energy of a classroom. If you are ready to build a career where your work leaves a lasting footprint on the future, we want you on our team.
In this role, you are a co-researcher in the classroom. You aren’t just supervising; you are observing, listening, and engaging with children to help them navigate their world. We look for individuals who take “client service” (in this case, the children and their families) to a heart-centered level. Whether you are helping a child resolve a social conflict or setting up a sensory activity that sparks wonder, your goal is to create a sense of belonging and security.
Joining Kids U means joining a premier provider that values professional growth and teamwork. We offer a competitive salary range and a workplace culture that treats educators as the professionals they are. We provide a supportive environment where your ideas are valued and your dedication to the “whole child” is recognized. If you are a certified ECE professional who is “obsessively passionate” about early learning, we invite you to apply and help us shape the next generation of thinkers and doers in Calgary.
Kids U | Calgary, AB
Kids U (frequently associated with its parent brand, Fueling Brains Academy) is a leading early childhood education provider in Calgary. It distinguishes itself from traditional daycare models by using a proprietary “student-centered, inquiry-based” curriculum designed to develop both the “left brain” (logic, literacy, math) and “right brain” (creativity, social-emotional, physical) in children.
Company Culture: “Building Brains”
The culture at Kids U is deeply academic and data-driven, reflecting its philosophy that the first five years of life are critical for brain development.
-
Brain-Development Focus: The workplace is defined by the Fueling Brains framework. Educators are trained to view themselves as “brain builders” rather than just caregivers, with a focus on executive function and cognitive growth.
-
Supportive Professional Growth: The organization emphasizes leadership development. Many staff members start as classroom assistants and are given a clear path to becoming Lead Teachers or Campus Directors as the company expands.
-
“Growing Pains” and Performance: Reviews from staff suggest a fast-paced environment that can be demanding. The culture values adaptability and high energy, as the large, modern facilities require a “team-balanced” approach to manage high student-to-teacher ratios effectively.
-
Multicultural and Inclusive: The Calgary campuses are known for having a diverse, multicultural staff, creating a vibrant environment for both employees and the families they serve.
Locations: The Calgary Footprint
